Transforming Formosan Bears into Art with OhBear Taiwan
The OhBear paint-a-bear initiative saw blank models of Formosan bears entrusted to Dasein Academy of
Art students for fun makeovers! This event, a fundraiser in collaboration with Taiwan Tourism
Administration, will have proceeds from OhBears sales go towards The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation
Centre (BSBCC). Equipped with brushes, paint, and boundless imagination, the students breathed new
life into the bears, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that are bound to attract collectors.
"Beyond the Walls: Battle for Humanity" Fan Art Competition
From 25 April till 21 July 2024, the Attack on Titan: The Final Exhibition offered fans an immersive journey into the world created by manga artist Hajime Isayama. Alongside the exhibition, a fan art competition organised by LorryPop Studio and Dasein Academy of Art was held from 15 May to 23 June 2024. This contest, "Beyond the Walls: Battle for Humanity", provided an opportunity for all Malaysian artists from the age of 13 onwards to showcase their creativity and passion for the series. A standout feature was the student category, where talented winners were awarded not just recognition but Dasein Academy of Art’s very own scholarships.
Students Shine in Starbucks’ Bearista Project
Dasein Academy of Art is proud to announce that our talented students have contributed to Starbucks Malaysia's latest campaign, "Starbucks Brewing Art for Good: The Bearista Project." This initiative, part of Starbucks' 25th anniversary celebration in Malaysia, showcases life-sized Bearista bears designed by local artists and students, reflecting Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity.
River City Mural Project: Students Transform Local Community
Our Illustration students have successfully completed a community mural at The RiverCity KL, located at 1, Jalan Selvadurai, Jalan Ipoh, 51200 Kuala Lumpur. Over seven days, students and lecturers collaborated to create a stunning visual that blends together Malaysia's landmarks, culture, and cuisine.
Dasein Movie Day with VHQ at MBO Cinemas
The college organized a private screening at MBO Cinema, Starling Mall to celebrate the hardwork of 11 graduates from Dasein Animation program (Chan Jia Jyn, Steven Chan Hong Yew, Lim You Xuan, Lim Hong Guan, Lee Kah Yee, Ng Mun Hoe, Cheng Keng Yee, Lim Woh Yew, Lim Chia Sien, Wong Ting Wei and Lai Jun Yit) who are involved in the visual effects (VFX) production of the award-winning movie, "The Garden of Evening Mists”.
